Apeel Facts
🥑 What Is Apeel—and Why Should You Know About It?
You may have noticed fruit or veggies at the store with an “Apeel” sticker on them… but what is Apeel, exactly?
👉 Apeel is a synthetic coating designed to extend shelf life by slowing down spoilage. It’s applied to produce like avocados, cucumbers, apples, and more—even organic ones!!
It’s marketed as "plant-based," but here's the truth most people don’t know:
🔬 Apeel is made using a synthetic preservative process, and the final coating is not easily washed off—even with soap or vinegar. It creates an invisible barrier that locks in moisture... and traps everything else too.
⚠️ Why I Don’t Trust It:
The coating is proprietary, meaning we don’t get full transparency on ingredients
It’s designed to resist washing—even scrubbing won’t remove it
Apeel-coated produce may still be labeled as organic, despite the added layer
There’s limited long-term safety data on what this does when ingested repeatedly
🥕 I believe in food that goes bad—because that means it’s alive. We were never meant to eat plastic-like coatings in the name of “convenience.”
📍 My tip: Buy local, buy fresh, and know your farmer when you can. And always read the labels—even the tiny ones.
